Use the capture director interface

The capture director keeps the run plan, live view and recorder state on one screen. Leave it visible throughout a paired capture.

Plan the run in RUN

Open RUN, then select Edit to open Edit and import run. Set the run title, study description and cycle count, then add open tasks, timed tasks and pauses in the order the demonstrator will perform them.

Each task needs a short name and an observable cue. Open and timed tasks can repeat and include a reset interval. Select Apply & close only after the order and timings match the study protocol. Save downloads the plan as JSON; it does not apply the plan to the run.

Pair in the connection panel

Choose Local only or Direct; changing the connection method creates an invitation automatically. If the panel shows No active invite, select Create invite. Use New invite after an unclaimed invitation expires. A claimed expiry leaves the demonstrator paired; use Reset pairing only when it is shown and the demonstrator must be replaced.

Read the live workspace

The camera bay shows the outward video from Quest. Hand overlays and trails are diagnostic views over that feed; they do not change the durable recording. Use the normal outline view for routine direction, then switch to keypoints, mesh colours or motion trails when investigating tracking.

The status footer condenses the checks that matter before a take:

• GO means the current readiness target is met.
• CAUTION means the run can continue only after the capture director has checked the condition.
• STOP means a new take should not begin.
• CAM, XR, RTC, HAND, RATE, REC and ERR identify the subsystem behind that summary. LINK is reported separately.

Direct the take

Set director readiness after the scene, active task and demonstrator are ready. Ask the demonstrator to begin only when both surfaces show REC. Watch the live feed, hand overlays, gap indicators and speed warnings while the action is under way.

During a reset, Pass and Fail annotate the attempt but never gate progression. Retry replaces an unsuitable attempt for the task. Next advances when the task state permits it.

Review the result in EPS

Use the EPS list after the recorder finishes stopping. Confirm that the completed cycle appears, then inspect its video, gaps, tracking quality and task boundaries before the session context is lost. Export only after the accepted episode matches the study record.
